Lay up cover maintains your cover at a reduced premium for any months you know you won't be using your touring caravan. You can choose lay up cover for up to 6 months.

Your cover starts on the first day of the month you nominate as the beginning of the lay up period. It finishes on the last day of the month you choose as the end of the lay up period.

For more information on lay up cover, please refer to the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS)

If you want to use your touring caravan during the lay up period, then we'll only cover it for loss or damage if:

  • You tell us you're going to use it
  • We agree to cover you for that use
  • You pay us any additional premium that may apply

Yes, your policy covers your caravan or trailer Australia wide.

If we agree to pay your claim and your touring caravan or trailer is damaged as a result of an incident, we'll pay the cost of one tow from the scene of the incident to:

  • The nearest repairer recommended by us
  • The nearest repairer nominated by you and agreed to by us
  • To a place of safety as agreed to by us

For more information, please refer to the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS)

The price of your insurance is based on how likely you are to make a claim and by taking into account a specific set of influences, including:

  • Pricing factors
  • No Claim Bonus
  • Policy options
  • Loyalty Discounts
  • Choice of excess
  • Government charges

To find out more about how we calculate your premium, read the Premium, Excess and Discounts Guide (PED)

As an NRMA Insurance customer, we reward you for your entire relationship with us. With our Loyalty Discount, the more policies you have and the longer you stay with us, the more you get in return.

To view your current discount, refer to your policy document.

To calculate additional discounts you may be eligible for, please visit the Loyalty Discount page or read the Premium, Excess and Discounts Guide

An excess is an amount you may need to pay towards a claim. There are different types of excess that may apply:

  • Chosen excess
  • Age excess
  • Hail or cyclone excess

To find out which excess type applies to you, please refer to your policy document.

In the event of a claim, you may need to pay an excess if you or a person who has your permission to use your caravan or trailer are considered at-fault. You won't have to pay an excess if:

  • Your touring caravan or trailer is attached to a vehicle you own and they're damaged accidentally in the same incident
  • Your vehicle is Comprehensively insured with us
  • You've lodged a claim for the incident under your Comprehensive Insurance policy

For general information about excess, please read the Premium, Excess and Discounts Guide

A No Claim Bonus (NCB) is a discount that's applied to your premium to reward you for having a good claims history. The longer you remain claim free, the higher your NCB level becomes, plus you'll receive more privileges. Our NCB ranges from 0% to a maximum 65%.

We base your NCB on the claims history of any listed owners.

For Touring Caravan and Trailer if the policy is in a company name, we'll determine your NCB on the claims history of each driver.

To find out more about NCB please read the Premium, Excess and Discounts Guide

To see what your policy covers you for, please refer to your policy document or the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS)
